Melanie's new blog

I miss Melanie during the winter, when she is living in Austin. However, she has been keeping very busy. Teaching cooking classes, making things for our bakery, marketing, designing and creating her own blog!
It is great, so if you miss hearing from Melanie during the winter, you can check out her blog at melscuisineadventures.blogspot.com.
She is even going to be on television tomorrow, and I will post it once we get the lead to watch it on the internet.

As much as I miss her, I have not been sitting idle. We had a fun and delicious cooking class this weekend, and the focus was on Italian foods. The meal began with an eggplant tomato caprese, leading into a white bean tuscan soup, pesto chicken and finished with a chocolate panini. Yummy! In March I will be holding a Greek evening as well as a Thai class. Our annual raw chocolate class is this Sunday and a super lot of fun, primarily because it takes all the guilt out of eating chocolate.

On a purely business note, our deli space in the basement by the river is available for meetings, parties and events. A fiftieth birthday was hosted there two weeks ago with a five piece jazz band and it was fabulous!

A new Year and New Beginnings!

Well, we did it! We finished remodeling (I never thought it would be done) and we moved into our new space. We own it, so we should not have to move again! It is located at 26 Central Square, right in the middle of Bristol. There are so many new things coming up this year, not just a new space. I am retiring from teaching this June, after 20 wonderful years, and will be able to have the bakery open full time after that. We have expanded into a sit down coffee shoppe style place, where you can get freshly pressed juices, smoothies, lattes, as well as your favorite baked goods (regular or gluten free).

One of my big plans for this summer is to offer a Sunday brunch buffet, highlighting a different farm each week. This will keep everything fresh and delicious as well as helping out some people doing great things! Our deli opens on Memorial Day and will be downstairs overlooking the river. It will be a Boar's Head deli (they are always gluten free) and highlight their totally natural line. We will also offer an array of salads, homemade soups and vegan or vegetarian entrees.

People ask why so many different things, and I say that the cornucopia reminds me of plenty and variety and fresh food and that is what I want to being to people. Fresh food that will taste delicious, enhance their health and in an atmosphere that they will enjoy. Cornucopia cakes, Cornucopia Bakery, Cornucopia Catering, Cornucopia Deli...See the theme? Quality food and plenty of it. I hope to see you soon.

November Tidings

In school we always recited a poem: "No leaves, No sun, No snow, November".
While it is true that November can be dark and dreary, it is also a wonderful time to start up the wood stove, get out your turtlenecks and enjoy the brisk, clean air. Think positive! We never seem to worry about the humidity in November!
It is also a great time to curl up with a cup of tea and a scone and just relax before the craziness of the holidays and winter come.
Sara and I have been busy at work on the new bakery and it looks like we will be moving in January first. Things will stay the same until Memorial Day and then the deli will open, the bakery will be open full time and the coffee shoppe will be expanded. We have comfy couches and chairs as well as free wifi so when it is November you will be able to curl up with a cup of tea, chat with a friend or use your computer or read a good book in our new space.
I hope to see you soon at the bakery!
